The Conformist

Everyone seems to know what they're talking about. I don't. When I talk to other people, I either say stupid things to be funny, or I badly emulate other people who know what they're talking about. I'm not very intelligent. I might seem smart on occasion because I've learned to copy-paste knowledge whenever I need it, but I rarely think of novel solutions and interesting ideas -- on my own. I am a mediocre programmer, so I'm not even that good at my own craft. I'm good at other things, like following rules, keeping my word, and not being an asshole. I have been conditioned to think inside of a box and to be an obedient worker. My only courageous trait is to run away from things that harm me.

I think all of this makes me highly adaptive to our current society. I use knowledge as a tool whenever I need it, instead of learning things just for the sake of it. I rarely think I have the True answers, so I'm always open to other people's claims, even if they're full of shit. As a friend of mine once said, I'm very agreeable. So, I don't piss off the big guy, and I still get the job done.

So I wonder, why should I change? The only valid reason I can come up with is the lack of passion.

I am a conformist hardly trying not to conform.
